Welcome to Skonewood Christian Retreat
In 1969, Art and Agnes Skone purchased land near their childhood home for their retirement home. In 1978 it evolved into Skonewood Christian Retreat Center, a non-denominational facility incorporated and under the direction of a 12-member board. It is operated and cared for by a volunteer host and hostess. Over the years a variety of building and resources have been added for the benefit of “guests”. Through the financial generosity of the Skone’s, their family, friends and guests, and hours of volunteer labor, this facility provides an opportunity for you to experience God’s presence and blessing.

Camping is one of the best ways to unwind and slow down from the busyness of life. This is the essence of Art and Agnes dream: that Christians would have a place to come together to experience God in a natural, God Created, setting on Little Mirror Lake. Make Skonewood an annual family trip, church retreat, or personal get-away. Come and experience this peaceful, beautiful setting for yourself!
Chapel of LoveThe Chapel is a scale replica of the First Lutheran Church of Cushing located on the hill at the north end of town which was the family Church before it burned in 1945. It has 4 pews and seats 12 people and is a wonderful place to meet and talk to the Lord in the peace and quietness of this beautiful environment.
